Press briefing on Jordan's latest COVID-19 strategy

A press briefing headed by Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, and Minister of Health, Saad Jaber, took place at the Prime Ministry, on Wednesday.

The press conference addressed the COVID-19 situation in Jordan.

A total lockdown will be implemented in Amman and Zarqa on Friday, Adaileh said.

The lockdown will start from 11pm on Thursday, ending at 6am on Saturday.

However, permits will be given for a limited number of sectors, including media industries, he added.

The government, along with the National Committee for Epidemics, is considering the possibility of organising the elections according to strict health protocols, Adaileh added.

People who are willing to enter or leave the country on Friday will be able to by showing flight tickets, Adaileh said.

Forty new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Jordan on Wednesday, 30 of which are local, bringing the total number of cases sinc the start of the crisis to 1,756 Jaber announced.

A futher 11 recovery cases were recorded today, Jaber added.
